Visit The Fascination Of The SL At The Mercedes-Benz Museum On Instagram

There’s a new exhibition at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart focussing on the generations of the SL. For over 70 years Mercedes have produced the SL and the exhibition will take you through the history of the sports car.

All very well, but Stuttgart isn’t exactly nearby for everyone, but they have released two special interactive tours of the display in the @mercedesbenzmuseum Instagram channel.

Museum guide Lorenzo Santaniello takes you through each car with the viewer able to decide what they want to see for some of the cars and test their knowledge by answering questions.

Historical photographs and videos make up part of the interactive display as well as a look inside the cars, something you don’t get to do in person.

The tour of the SL exhibition is the third of its kind of the Museum allowing visitors from all over the world to see selected exhibits. It still doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go in person

The exhibition tells the story of the Mercedes-Benz sports car focussing on nine cars laid out on a serpentine loop. The oldest SL in existence is the starting point. The 1952 car has been owned by the factory since new and is rarely seen in public.

All further generations of the SL are featured including the latest R 232 which premiered on 28 October 2021 and will be a feature of the exhibition from January 2022.

In addition, there are original sales brochures, films, technical details.

If you are able to visit in person there are German-language guided tours of the Museum, from Tuesday to Friday at 2.30 p.m. and on weekends on request. The special exhibition of the SL is open until 15 May 2022.

After the Instagram reels have been published the tour will be available as a video at: http://mb4.me/virtuelle-tour.

Thanks to the Mercedes Benz Museum for the images,
