Elvis Presley’s 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham For Sale

Elvis Presley’s 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham has come up for sale in Sweden. This represents a very rare opportunity to buy and own one of the over 200 Cadillacs that Elvis bought in his lifetime.

Bought new in 1974, this 1975 model year Brougham is offered through the online auction platform from Car & Classic. The 8200 cc V8, or 500 Ci, Fleetwood was sourced from Madison Cadillac Inc by the King himself and comes with extensive paperwork.

The specification included a sunroof and the hood mounted Goddess, which is still there after all these years. The price was $12,512. And of course, after Elvis had finished with the car he donated it, this time it was given to Elvis’ doctor in 1976. He didn’t keep them that long.

Royal physician Dr G. Nichopoulos used the car for ten years before selling it when the current owner bought it. he then sold it in 1990 and then bought it back. After quite a long time the vendor has decided that now is the time to sell the car and it is no coincidence that the auction starts on January 8th, the King’s birthday.

There are many photographs of the Cadillac at different venues, which goes to show how much provenance there is with the car. the auction listing has several period images and a large Graceland backdrop and a framed 14k gold key for the car.

The car isn’t perfect, being unrestored but mostly complete. There is a missing emblem wreath and there is some wear and tear to the interior. The dashboard looks good, it’s even got the original radio and all buttons and switches are there.

The velour trimmed seats look to be in really good condition, but around the rest of the trim there is some splitting of the vinyl and a few bits have flaked off. Maybe helped by fans who will simply collect anything Elvis.

The Cadillac needs some recommissioning before being driven, think of it as a light restoration. But the patina present around the body and interior should probably be left. Restore it and you destroy the history; preservation is the order of the day here.

What’s Elvis Presley’s old Cadillac worth? It’s hard to say, but the Elvis premium is likely to be several times the price of the car itself. I’ll be watching it to find out.

“You don’t purchase this car because it’s the ultimate example of American automotive greatness in the Seventies,” says Car & Classic editor Chris Pollitt. “You are buying a piece of original history, a period chariot belonging to one of the most famous showmen in the world. Shame it’s not pink.”
