Has it been that long since a 9000 update. Well, you’ll all be pleased to hear that it is still going well. Rather too well so it tends to get used far too much. It’s just so practical, comfortable and reliable it is the go to vehicle for everything.

Since I last wrote about it the 9000 has been to Bristol on a nice day trip, of about 250 miles. A trip back to Norfolk for the obligatory Christmas time visit to my Mum’s and I’ve lost track of the mileage there, but let’s say at least 350 for that alone. A good night out in Norwich was had with fellow Jalopyist Jim, the other half of the Race To Le Mans in 2014. Somehow 2015 doesn’t have anything in the calendar. Perhaps I need another Euro thrash in a thoroughly unsuitable motor…

Quite where all the other mileage has come from, but all the general running around soon adds up. Which means it’s coming up to service time, best make sure I’ve got all the relevant bits in stock, I bought a ridiculous amount of genuine filters from Parts For SAABs as they had them on offer.

But, before then I needed to attend to the front brakes, there was far too much squeal for my liking and a new set of pads did the trick. I’d had them a while, ready for just this occasion about 2 years ago.

The result is much better but another job on the list is to bleed the brakes. The pedal is a little too firm, which isn’t a bad thing, especially if you have experienced the over assisted modern cars which are frankly quite horrible.

You may have noticed that the amount spent this period seems a little high for brake pads, well you’d be right. That little lot includes the MOT, £45 spent at the local Mr Tyre, who issued me a new MOT certificate with No advisories. :>)
