70 Years Of Matchbox Cars With Limited Edition Models Made From Recycled Zinc
Matchbox cars are not 70 years old and Mattel is celebrating this by making some limited edition models from recycled zinc. There are some fantastic classics available too, which cover several decades of Matchbox Production.
Matchbox’s heritage has been inventing highly detailed and realistic models which have been a young boy’s favourite for many years. They have also been collectable too, and these are likely to become instant collectors items.
The 70th anniversary die cast vehicles will be from a combination of collectors favourites and other iconic vehicles, each of them will having special platinum details.
It was back in 1953 that ex British Army Engineer, Jack Odell, had the idea to produce small replica die cast cars and pack them in a matchbox. This new small scale vehicle, coupled with affordable prices, became an instant success and were available to nearly everyone.
Matchbox were known for their innovation, quality and realism, which thankfully continues to this day. I know, I’ve been buying them.
The new limited edition models will be rolling into shops during the year and are to be available through the whole of Matchbox’s 2023 product line. This being the first of many ways that Matchbox are celebrating this year, more announcements are to come in July.

You can get Matchbox cars in the UK from a Tesco, Sainsburys, B&M Bargain, Morrisons, The Entertainer and Toymaster stores. Along with other independent retailers.
