Slow Fleet – Saab 9000 July 2014 Update
Latest Costs: £437.80
Miles this month: 1300+
With the race to Le Mans (see Race To Le Mans) occupying most of my time and budget the amount lavished on the 9000 was in excess of the purchase price. Seeing as it hadn’t had any money spent on it hardly since the first MOT in my ownership it was high time that it got some.
So after some tyres and serviceable items, a headlining it mounted up. But the car did excel itself proving to be reliable, comfortable and more than capable. So much so that it would be a shame to go back in anything else.
But the squeak was still there and needs attending to and the wheel alignment doesn’t seem to have fully straightened out the steering wheel. Pity, but I think there might be a suspension bush or two that needs investigating as it pulls a little over joints in the road. I might have an underperforming calliper or two as under braking it’s not quite as stable as a 9000 should be. But both of these are incredibly minor issues to be honest.
The fuel economy wasn’t bad either, retuning a reasonable 28+ overall, which considering it was sitting at 80 plus down the Autoroutes and getting buried in Rouen traffic both ways.
