Trabant Works, or not at the moment…

Static Fleet – Trabant; Too Long To Say Update

Trabant_TB

Latest Costs: No Idea, , I’ve lost track, but nothing costs much on these.
Miles since last update: None

Jalopy is in dire need of an update (much like the vehicles) and as part of that this now forms part of the Static Fleet page. Which is appropriate, seeing as some of them don’t move.

Anyway, after an undetermined amount of miles travelling around in the Trabant it had to move house a couple of times and the second time things became a bit more problematic. The amount of space reduced indoors then outdoors  and it became a bit difficult to manage everything. That and a spell of not being able to do anything at all due to an injury while the good weather was around.

So, a period of activity left things partially done, a period of inactivity, followed by some more work and then back into the near present we still have a non running partially dismantled car.

Right, first thing was get the fuel tank out (yes, that really is it) followed by the brake master cylinder. It seemed to have lost all of it’s fluid (it was needing attending to anyway).

Then get underneath and do something about the undersealing of the wheelarches. It’s preventative as I see it.

The brake drums needed looking at so I’d ordered some spares from Trabi-UK, new shoes and wheel cylinders all round.

But of course a simple job always turns into something bigger…. You take something off, or apart and find that there’s something else you should do whilst it’s apart. The rear wheel bearings on the left side were a good example. So off with the rather simple design of independent rear suspension. This things got a coilover damper on the back…
