SAAB 900, On The Road And Running

Slow Fleet – SAAB 900 June – Sept Update

Latest Costs: £0
Miles since last update: 359

With all of the recent activity and expenditure the 900 was put into use and behaved itself rather well. It proved pretty useful with having an enormous load platform in the rear. With the seats folder I can lie in the back, so there’s about 6′ from the back of the front seats to the boot lid.

I drained the coolant and replaced it with some stuff I have had for years, but still sealed, so I found a home for it. I also figured it cost nothing and cleared out another bottle of liquid out of Jalopy HQ.

The most exciting thing to happen in this period is a drive to norfolk to visit my Mum who had rented a cottage 20 miles from her home on the coast. Nice, so I took advantage of the use of the accommodation and decided the 900 would be ideal. It’s worth it for the scenery, it is stunning down there even if it was a bit overcast all weekend. But all went well and it drove fine all the way there and back.

(The pictures should be proof that it has actually been somewhere…)

In fact everything worked, except an intermittent central locking system, which would esometimes unlock all the doors or lock them all using the remote you stick in the door. Something that I can live with, but I think I can repair at some point.

One thing I noticed was a bit more exhaust noise, it seemed to be coming from the front of the cat, maybe the gasket was on the way out. The rest of the system is new so it can’t be that, can it….
