Ex Petter Solberg Subaru Impreza S10 WRC Rally Car For Sale At Auction

The Japan rally winning ex Petter Solberg Subaru Impreza S10 World Rally Car is going to auction in May 2021. Silverstone auctions have consigned the car for the upcoming sale.

The recently restored car has been returned to the specification it had on its first day of competition by Prodrive Legends. It was with this car that Solberg won the 2004 Rally Japan. It was this that decided how it was to be restored.

PRO-WRC 04008 was the eighth chassis Prodrive built for the 2004 rally season and was initially used by Petter Solberg. He drove the car to third place that year in the Rally Turkey in June. But it was on September the 5 2004 Petter Solberg drove this very S10 Subaru Impreza wearing 555 SRT registration to win the Rally Japan. It was his 8th and Subaru’s 42nd WRC win. Solberg was able to lead from start to finish, claiming 11 stage wins and he finished over a minute ahead of Sebastien Loeb.

Importantly the car comes with the FIA Gold Book and a spare parts package.

The car was bought privately in 2019 and sent to Prodrive to be restored by some of the same technicians who worked on the car back at the time of its build. All of the original documentation was available, which included the specific build schedule for chassis 008 for the Rally Japan in 2004. The car has been precisely rebuilt as it was for Solberg at the event. That includes his preferred suspension settings, his seat and pedal box position. Even the position of his water bottle has been replicated.

Gary Dunne Sales Controller for Silverstone Auctions added “We are absolutely delighted and privileged to be able to offer this one-off opportunity of the ex Petter Solberg competition car! This will certainly be one of the star cars for the sale; the lot list is rapidly growing, and this is our first sale for some time where we can invite bidders into the room on the auction day.”
