Just announced, Peter Auto and the ICO have postponed the Le Mans Classic to July 2021.
The international motorsport calendar has seen much disruption so far this year with many raced canclled or moved. Championships have been abandoned with point tallys not being collected this year.
The Le Mans Classic is a bi-annual event coming two weeks after the main Le Mans 24 hours race. It was only a matter of time until the race had to move and the following year is the most obvious place for it.
I’m personally glad it didn’t move to September, camping outside in France is great, but the nights get a little cooler towards the Autumn and this might have impacted demand.
So, another great loss to the classic car calendar, but it’s not the only segment suffering. Maintream modern motorsport has been seriously impacted along with all other sporting events. With such a large event it’s not possible to leave it too much longer to adapt as so much needs to be prepared.
I really feel for all the suppliers for the event. Clubs, package hosts and the stall holders that come every year. 2020 is proving to be very tough so far and I hope that all come out unscathed.
But, to bring some of the festival spirit to the news article Peter Auto released a great video that you can watch below.
