SYNETIQ Auction British Classics As Part Of Their Winsford Site Regeneration
SYNETIQ are auctioning off their private collection which contains some iconic British classic cars. A total of 25 classics are up for sale from the Winsford Collection, but there are five star lots which are expected to attract the majority of the bidding action.
Coming straight from the private museum at the SYNETIQ Winsford site which is to be redeveloped as an EV dismantling centre. SYNETIQ is the UK’s largest integrated salvage and vehicle recycling company. They have announced their intention to expand and invest in its Winsford site last year, to open a new cutting-edge facility for processing electric vehicles (EVs). Which is the first of its kind in Europe.
The 25 cars contain fast Fords, Jaguars and a large collection of Minis, most of which are emerging from dry storage ready to be recommissioned. Light restoration only is needed with the majority of the collection. Bidding is now live and ends on Friday 28th May.

1971 Ford Escort Mexico
The Ford Escort Mexico was launched in 1970 to celebrate the London – Mexico World Rally Championship in 1970. The Escort Mexico is one of the most sought after variants of the humble Ford. This one is finished in Daytona Yellow and comes with quad Cibie spotlights mounted at the front. Minilite alloy wheels completing the look. Even with 103,000 miles on the odometer the car is in really nice condition and should make a fair amount at the auction close.
Ford’s later Escort featured to four wheel drive and turbocharging and came up with the Escort Cosworth for Group a rallying. With the Group A formula, a 2 litre engine mated to permanent four wheel drive and with homologation rules a body kit that provided the right amount of downforce. The road going cars did come with some internal luxuries. this one has full leather trim, electric windows and a manual sunroof. Finished in the attractive shade of Mallard Green, this car has received some subtle enhancements. Compomotive alloy wheels and AP Racing brakes which are both period correct, and also reversible, should the new owner wish to return to factory specification.

1953 Jaguar XK120
This British Racing Green XK120 has been built to a fast road to mild competition spec. Having a roll bar, aero screens, fire extinguisher and an external ignition cut off. Ideal for touring, historic rallying or even racing. Oh, and the period correct wire wheels come with cross-ply tyres.
1964 Austin Mini Cooper S, Downton tuned with a Radford interior
This early Austin Mini Cooper S is a very rare car and possibly unique. A 1964 model featured the 1071cc A Series engine comes with servo assisted disc brakes, but not the twin fuel tanks of the later cars. This car has also been tuned by Downton Engineering, whilst Harold Radford & Co created a bespoke interior. Deeper seats trimmed in Connoly leather and a walnut dashboard with matching door cappings.
This Sierra RS Cosworth is finised in the very 80s shade of diamond white, with an unmarked grey velour interior. Showing just 38,000 miles on the odometer. This offers the chance to obtain an unmolested original exampe of the Sapphire saloon.
